Grace's Story:
how your donations changed the life of a brave little cat

At Pattes Communautaires, we believe that every cat deserves a chance to live a happy, healthy life surrounded by love. Grace's story is the perfect example of what solidarity, compassion, and the donations of our community can accomplish.

A small cat found on the street with an uncertain future

Grace was found outside in the West Island of Montreal when she was still just a young kitten. Upon her arrival at the shelter, we noticed that she was limping and seemed to have difficulty moving.

Initially, we thought it was simply a paw injury. However, after several veterinary exams, X-rays, and specialized consultations, the reality proved to be much more complex.

Grace suffered from a congenital malformation in both knees, a genetic condition affecting her kneecaps. This anomaly prevented her from walking normally. To get around, she hopped like a little rabbit, compensating as best she could for a pain she hid with incredible gentleness.

Essential surgery to offer her a normal life

Despite her disability, Grace remained an extraordinarily affectionate cat. She purred during veterinary exams, loved to play, and constantly sought human presence.

The orthopedic surgeon's diagnosis was clear: without surgical intervention, her mobility and quality of life would be severely compromised.

The estimated cost of the operation exceeded $3,500, a significant sum for an animal protection organization that continuously takes in abandoned, injured, or neglected cats.

That is when the magic of our community happened.

An incredible mobilization to save Grace

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our supporters, and several extraordinary people who believed in her story, we were able to raise the necessary funds for her surgery.

Every donation of $5, $10, $20, or more helped change her future.

All funds raised were dedicated exclusively to her orthopedic care to give her the chance to run, play, and live without pain.

An exceptional veterinary team

Grace received her surgery with Coopez thanks to the support and recommendation of the Côte-des-Neiges veterinary clinic.

After the operation, Isabelle, the veterinary technician, even welcomed Grace into her home to monitor her closely, administer her medication, and ensure she recovered in the best possible conditions.

Subsequently, her foster family continued her care for several weeks, strictly respecting a rest period to allow her knees to heal properly.

Grace was surrounded by a true team of dedicated people who all had the same goal: to offer her a second chance.

An incredible transformation

Today, Grace is between 7 and 8 months old and her life has completely changed.

Although she remains a small-sized cat, she can now run, jump, play, and fully enjoy her daily life.

When you meet her, it is hard to imagine everything she has been through.

She loves watching television with her humans, sleeping snuggled up to them, and spending time with other cats. She is particularly attached to her feline companions and thrives in their presence.

Her sweet, calm, and affectionate personality melts everyone who crosses her path.

Why donations are essential for cats

Grace's story concretely demonstrates the importance of donations for shelters and animal protection organizations.

Without the help of our community, this surgery simply would not have been possible.

Every donation allows us to:

  • Fund specialized veterinary care;

  • Save abandoned or injured cats;

  • Provide vital surgeries;

  • Provide food, medication, and care supplies;

  • Prepare cats for their future adoption.

When a person makes a donation to Pattes Communautaires, they contribute directly to stories like Grace's.

Grace is now ready for her forever family

Thank you for changing her destiny

Every time we watch Grace run, play, or snuggle up to her foster family, we think of everyone who contributed to her journey.

Your generosity did not just fund a surgery. It offered a vulnerable little cat the possibility to live without pain, to be loved, and to finally know happiness.
